EMMLAC

The East Midlands Museums, Libraries and Archives Council in one of the nine Regional Agencies which operate in England. EMMLAC is government funded via the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA). Its role is to provide strategic leadership for museums, libraries and archives in the East Midlands to enable them to provide a better service to the public.

East Midlands Museums Service is a registered charitity which acts as advocate, advisor and training provider to museums in the region. EMMS co-ordinates the half-yearly Practitioners Panel meeting, provides training courses in association with the county fora and acts as a domain specific 'voice' on matters of policy and practice.

AIM

The Association of Independent Museums is the national body for independent museums. Membership is open to all independent museums regardless of size. AIM provides a network of regional advisors, guidance notes on aspects of museum practice, bursaries for those attending conference and training events. AIM acts as the voice of the independent museum sector in negotiations over national and regional governmental policy.
